ABOUT

Early morning at Leuchtenberg, Germany - Sept 2011
Nate Atwood grew up in Southern Oregon, spending most of his free time outdoors, exploring the forests, rivers, mountains and coastline of the region. His interest in the outdoors led him to Oregon State University, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Geography in 1998 and his Masters degree in Geoscience and Glacial Geomorphology in 2000. After leaving Corvallis and Oregon State University, Nate worked as a computer cartographer and GPS specialist in various locales around the world. He spent two years living on Oahu, Hawaii's north shore, three years living in northern Japan, followed by two years living in interior Alaska. Nate left his cabin along the Salcha River in Alaska in 1996, moving to the state of Bavaria in Germany where he has been ever since. Nate is an avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast, exploring different regions in Europe whenever he can. Some of his best memories come from skiing out-of-the-way places in the European Alps and hiking those same places after the snow melts. No matter what Nate finds himself doing, whether it be exploring a village or city, or biking, hiking and skiing in the Alps, one thing is certain - he always has his camera with him. With his wife, Dawn, and their dog, Osu, Nate spends as much time as possible exploring and photographing the beauty of Europe.
